The SAFE KIDS Coalitions of Cobb and Douglas Counties are non-profit, charitable organizations and networks of SAFE KIDS USA, the first and only national organization dedicated solely to the prevention of unintentional childhood injury - the number one killer of children ages 14 and under.

SAFE KIDS Cobb County is led by both Cobb & Douglas Public Health and WellStar Health System. SAFE KIDS Douglas County is led by Cobb & Douglas Public Health. Both Coalitions are committed to preventing and reducing injuries to Cobb and Douglas children through education and providing safety equipment to families in need.

The Coalitions provide information and education on:

  • Child Passenger Safety
  • Poison prevention
  • Water safety
  • Bicycle safety
  • Fire safety
  • Pedestrian safety
  • Home safety

Child Safety Seat Inspection Station

SAFE KIDS Cobb & SAFE KIDS Douglas Coalitions provide free car seat education to help parents ensure their child's car and booster seats are installed and fit properly. All parents and caregivers are welcome to schedule an appointment to have their seat installed.

Car Seats

Car seats are available at a reduced cost to Cobb and Douglas County residents who are income eligible. To qualify you must be a current recipient of a government assistance program (WIC, Medicaid or PeachCare) or meet income eligibility requirements. The program is limited to one car seat per child, and parents or caregivers must attend the car seat education class to receive the seat.
