The Douglas County Tobacco Use Prevention Coalition is working to increase awareness of the health effects of tobacco use, environmental tobacco smoke (ETS), and to prevent the next generation from becoming addicted to tobacco.
We are a coalition of community members, medical professionals, business people, students, school personnel, and staff from agencies in the county. Many of us decided to become involved because we don’t want our children and grandchildren to suffer the same fate as the current generations have with addiction and death from tobacco.
We are made up of every day people like you. But we have chosen to take a stand against the most addictive substance know to man, a substance that brings pleasure to the user at the outset and later causes disease and suffering in the end.
The Mission of the Douglas County Tobacco Use Prevention Coalition is to protect the health of the community, with particular emphasis on youth, by combating tobacco use and exposure in Douglas County. Through diverse community partnerships and prevention education, we will realign our community values and attitudes toward tobacco use.
